When you see great plateaus covered by a sea of coffee plants and nice machinery working during harvest, this is one of the region where these images are taken. Located in the northeast of the State of São Paulo and some municipalities of Minas Gerais, the Alta Mogiana region comprehends a total of 450 thousand hectares where 60 thousand hectares are dedicated exclusively to coffee production.
Surrounded by natural landscapes, this region receives the name Alta Mogiana after a very important railway that was built to transport huge amounts of coffee in 1872. Officially called as Companhia Mogiana de Estradas de Ferro (Railways Mogiana Company), it was designed to connect Campinas city to other municipalities in the countryside of São Paulo and Minas Gerais states. Until 1971, almost of 2 thousand kilometers were constructed and small villages started growing alongside the iron path.
